Source: All pictures are from an external source unless stated otherwise.
Note: This is in no way a sponsered ad, I don't know anyone from A.L. designs personally nor have spoken to anyone. These are my purest, truest, most untouched thoughts.:)

Remember, remember! you don't have to be a member to comment! I want to hear from you!

Hello hello

First of all, I want to say, Thank you, thank you, thank you for the amount of support you've given me:)
Thank you to all the people that participated in the little challenge from Looklet, and a special thank you to Looklet for commenting on my post! It meant the world to me.
I hope you had lots of fun! There are still a few of you I'm waiting to see!:) Good luck!
Words cannot express how grateful I am, everytime I see the number of views multiply- not because I'm doing it for the views but because I know I've caught your attention and made that 3 minutes of reading, a remarkable experience for you.
I could go and on and on and on and on but lets get back to the real deal! but seriously guys, you rock.

This is the second post of Hungry for accesories? If you have no idea what I'm talking about, check this out. :)
Hungry for accesories? series 1: EASE DESIGN
So...
Today, I wanted to introduce you to a local Singapore designer, I actually found her on Etsy.com,
I won't go too much into Etsy because I wanted to dedicate an entire post to them but here's a little treat, Etsy.com is basically like an online handcraft, DIY, vintage, really fun, artsy markerplace.
The concept of Etsy is pretty awesome. It's a website where designers, artist, really anyone creative, can show off their talent or even share a piece of history with you through vintage pieces.
Etsy.com is definitely one of my favorite websites, I could just sit there for hours and hours and browse through pages.
If you think about it, it really is a community of talent!

With that said, I want to feature A.L. Designs in this series!
A.L. Designs features handcrafted items, such as accessories, phone charms, cases and many many more!
I would describe comming across her Etsy page as being a spontaneous moment, and I was pleasantly surprised that we were from the same place and of course her finely crafted food! earrings totally caught my attention.
Lucky for you, I'm not going to bore you on how much I like food-inspired accessories, let's go straight to the point!
Even though, I was born in the U.S, went to an international school for most of my life, I'm very proud of my Chinese Heritage, and of course! I can't dedicate my love of food-inspired items to only my Western side. I'm going to dedicate this series to only Chinese food.
The series I'm about to show you, contains earrings that are created from clay.
Here's what happened in a nutshell- I was searching up ang-ku-kueh on Etsy.->yep, that's how I spend my time:)
Ang ku kueh?! What is that..!?
Well.. truth be told, I can't give you a fancy, glittered up definition but I will give you this, it is a traditional chinese pastry that is kinda soft, and sticky with a sweet filling on the inside.

Here is a real image of an Ang Ku Kueh pastry

Have a look at this, and you'll know what I mean! Of course, again, again, there is absolutely tooooo much amazing items to choose from, so here are my favorites! check out the rest at - http://www.etsy.com/people/aldesigns?ref=ls_profile

Ang Ku Keuh [studs] Smooth surface.
Seriously you guys, this is insane, it is absolutely crazy how much it resembles the real thing! well besides the fact that it is 3 times smaller and inedible.

This is the rough surface version of the Ang Ku Kueh.

uh.. I want it! I definitely like the smooth version but ahhh, I'm indecisive! I'm loving both!

The chinese pork bun earrings!

Double Happiness Cookies! [studs] These are the rough surface. Another thing I really like about A.L. Designs is that they also consider people that might not like the rough surface, in which case, they might prefer the same earrings but with a smooth surface.

Double Happiness Cupcakes and cookie Ring I-
lovelovelove! actually would totally wear this! I wish they had an Ang Ku Kueh ring and pendant! ahaha, crazy Tammy!

Okay... I know this isn't exactly an accessory but I'm in loveeeee with them! MOONCAKES! omg? love

I love this series by A.L. Designs.
I think it's a type of nostalgia, a surreal state that you're left in when you come across items that you've grown up with, it's absolutely beautiful.
Every Chinese New Year, celebrations with family, you name it, silent moments that are irreplaceable.
Having studied abroad for a while now, to a certain extent, I've felt lost and I know it sounds silly! but occasionally, little items like that, really really cheer me up! and reminds me how much I miss home.

I hope you've enjoyed that, yep. I have a big weakness for food-inspired items, what's new right? but what I like even more about A.L. Design is that....
I read up about A.L. Designs' [About me] section on her Etsy website and one of her reasons behind creating A.L. Designs was to share her designs with everyone.
She described her design beginnings as being very personal, to create interesting pieces for herself but quickly fell in love with this craft and thought, what would be better than having a community where people with similar interest could come together and share their thoughts hence, A.L. Designs was born!
I have a lot of respect based on that because I think sharing what you love with someone else is the purest form of sincerity.
There really is too much to write about, remember! There are way more designs on the official website and the Etsy page!
For more designs from A.L. Designs, please check out

Good luck Adrine!

Hello hello

Do you still remember playing with paper dolls? and then came the ever popular dollmaker website?
Ever mixed and match outfits at a store but didn't end up taking a photo of the entire look because the shop keeper was staring at you.
I have something that is going to blow your mind, take the idea of paper dolls to the next level.

Check this out.
LOOKLET

As it states, "Bring your looks to life with different models, sets and effects. SHARE YOUR FASHION WITH THE WORLD!"
Mix and match garments, bags, accessories to create a look that you desire. Looklet offers a wide range of designers to choose from, of course, my favorite! Marc by Marc Jacobs!
Designers include, Burberry, Cheap Monday, Mulberry, Proenza Schouler, Topshop, even Lanvin for H&M, the list goes on! trust me!

You can pick from a range of models that is most appropriate for your look! short hair, long hair, different styles! :D

Even backgrounds! to suit the mood of your theme, it's like you're styling your very own photoshoot!:)

Other than backgrounds, you can also test out different types of photo effects and mirror the image.

Probably one of my favorite things about looklet is that, they allow you to do the most realistic thing in fashion; manipulate the garment with a belt, wear a buttoned shirt as a jacket, carry bags in different ways. I've attached an example, have a look.:)
WITH AND WITHOUT A BELT

Here is my very first looklet look: I've named it [Surprise, surprise]
I named it [Surprise, surprise] because I wanted to play kinda a boy meets girls look, something that you wouldn't expect.
The reason why I picked this red-head model is firstly because I'm obsessed with red head models!
Secondly, I wanted someone that obviously had a very feminine feel to her look.
I put her in all black because I wanted to bring out color without actually incoporating any color, the redness from her hair and the bold yellow from the mulberry bag-> that I'm dying to have!
Playing with something that is a little more masculine on an obviously very feminine girl, I think there's an amount of suspense and surprise in her fashion.
I remember Kiyoko telling me that, bow ties were in fashion this year, and I wanted to see how I could play with the androgynous fashion look.
Playing with shape, minusing the curves by wearing strong shaped clothing, a tiny hint of a power shoulder, giving a horse-riding-esque feel to theme.
Soft yet strong.
The oufit was created with: a bow tie from Paul & friends, Shoulder bag from Mulberry, Ring from topshop, Turtle neck from burberry, Comme des Garcon for H&M, wedges are from Kenzo if you were wondering:)
PORTRAIT

FRONT

BACK

I think that the wedges are mad cool, here is a close up on the wedges!

It's a really fun interactive website that I would say is fairly realistic, it is apparant that a lot of work has been put in to make this website as realistic as possible.

Why do I say that? It was one of the very first things I noticed, the creases and how it sits on your body is really important. Because garments are a 2D form that are going to sit on a 3D form [our bodies] the crease and the way it sits is really important to make the outfit as realistic as possible. It's not going to just lay flat on you like a penguin suit!

I definitely recommend it, it may not have the "newest" collection of every single designer but hey! I'm sure they're on it as we're speaking!

With that said, I would like to tag my fellow onsugar fashion forward bloggers/beauty bloggers! Hit me with your best shot! After you have written your post, leave me a reply, I would love to see what you've come up with!

Obsession #2: Solange Azagury-Partridge: Hot Lip rings

Hello hello

Tired of those plastic, silver, boring bands? I've got something that is going to open your eyes to a new look on design.
Remember that explosion of lips on the scene, anywhere from those lip telephones to lip couches? Rolling stones?
Solange Azagury-Partridge shines a new light on the image of lips, lip shaped rings!
I really should thank my Mom huh? I always spot the coolest things with her. So yea, same story, went shopping with mom, different place.
I have soooooo much to blog about Solange Azagury-Partridge, so you can definitely expect more! I promise the next one will be in a day or two!

Well, lip shaped rings are nothing new to the scene, but what I personally found intriguing about these rings are that they are 3D ring, the curve circles the entire ring.
The ones I've seen around are usually a flat 2D image of a lip placed on top of a ring band. Solange Azagury-Partridge's hot lip rings is actually an entire lip, the lip curves into the band of the ring so it's actually a whole piece.
See how there's slight gap between the lips? adds that extra touch that makes it that much more realistic and if I say so myself, sexy.
It also adds that extra mysterious vibe to it, don't you think?

Other than the red hot lips, they obviously have other colors such as orange, two different shades of pink, orange, green and yellow.haha, i know my friend would totally love the light blue one. The yellow, and of course both shades of pinks are definitely growing on me!

If I remember correctly, there was also a slightly more pastel palette set of rings, including more tones like beige, a paler versions of the normal palette.
Hey, I didn't forget you my bling lovers! You can get this one!

I absolutely love visiting Solange Azagury-Partridge, where do I even begin, the beautiful red interior decoration, the star shaped display show cases or the picture frame showcases on the wall!

My mom's friend actually purchased this particular one, that was also a hot red lip ring but the significant difference about this one is that, it was designed for the famous product [RED], yep! the same one as those famous red ipods your friends have!
50 percent of the profit will go to fighting against AIDS in Africa, as I've said before, what's better than being fashionable and give back to the world at the same time!:) Check it out, it says special edition in it.

My Verdict?
I absolutely love Solange Azagury-Partridge, ever since I spotted them, I've wanted one! It is fairly pricey at a high 1500 dollars but within reason, these are well thought out designs, fantabulous quality as well and they look AMAZING when worn. I would suggest to buy a color that speaks your personality! The red is definitely a classic, and speaks loud but don't go right for the classic red one, why not the pale pink? light blue or even green! Like anything you would purchase, you shouldn't purchase just to have one, buy one that you really really really really x 193509275 adore so twenty years down the road, you'll still clearly remember the same feeling that was flowing through you when you purchased it. Have fun with it because fun and adventurous is definitely what Solange Azagury-Partridge stands for. Make the final judgement! Good luck!:)

Tell me! which one would you get? and what color represents you most!

Good Luck

Tammycam: Aphrodite of the garden

Hello hello

This is a new section that I've decided to add, I've been blogging lots on other people's work, so I thought it would be only appropriate if I show you a little bit of my work as well. This will be a little portfolio, sneak preview, I'll only show one piece per post. I hope you like it!
Note: If you would like to use my artwork for any purpose, please drop me an email and I'll send you the original without a watermark, within reason of course! tammytew@gmail.com

Aphrodite is the Greek Goddess of love, lust, and beauty. Through the years, sculptors have created and re-created many versions of Aphrodite, one of which was named, Aphrodite in the garden.
The clay was draped beautifully like cloth, gently over her body as she leaned against a column.
From how defined each ripple is on her robe and how firm her shoulders are, it is obvious the Goddess of love, lust and beauty was not all about beauty, she was a strong and independent woman. I fell in love instantly with the shadows that cast on the perfection of each ripple.
I could feel the love the artist had as he or she created the piece and could almost see the pieces come to life as I laid down pencil marks on my blank sheet of A3 paper.
I couldn’t help but wonder what went through the sculptor’s mind as he or she recreated the sacred image of a well-known Greek Goddess, a symbol so close to the heart of many.
Instead of recreating the piece with color pencils, I wanted to capture the masterpiece at its purest; capturing the love the artist had for the piece and the emotions I felt.
The experience was amazing, I've always loved drawing the hours away in my little corner.
The piece was created with 2B, 3B and 4B pencils. The purple hue is actually created from my iPhone, i think its a cool little touch to it huh?

Good Luck

Did you know? Issue 5-2: Chanel: 2.55 reissue and classic flap

Hello hello
This is the second series to the previous post titled [1] Did you know? Issue 5: Chanel: 2.55 original
l'm sorry that my previous post has a really weird font because I was actually typing my post in Word, obviously that wasn't a brilliant move on my part. haha. Anyways, this post is going to be about the reissue and classic flap.

Initially, I wanted to create an entire post dedicated to the Chanel 2.55 but I soon realized that was absolutely crazy because it's got such a rich history that it's only right to seperate and give a deserving individual blog post to them. The reason why I've decided to combine the 2.55 reissue and classic flap together was because the previous post was more about the history and beginning of the two.
Okay, this [Did you know] is going to be somewhat fragmented because afterall, they ARE two different bags.

Here comes the [DID YOU KNOW]

Did you know that this was version of the 2.55 is actually known as Karl Lagerfeld's reissue Chanel 2.55 bag? Marking the 50th anniversay of the 2.55 in 2005, Karl Lagerfeld revived the design as Mademoiselle Chanel had made it with the signature Mademoiselle lock. It had proved quickly that it was timeless design and still stands strong as a classic luxury today. See the second picture? This is the second [Did you know], In the early 1980s, Karl Lagerfeld introduced the CC clasp which represented the house of Chanel. Similarly, this bag also has the double chain but what makes this different is the leather weaving through the chain. The CC clasp proved to be an instant sensation, this is now known as the classic flap.

It is the unseen, unforgettable, ultimate accessory of fashion that heralds your arrival and prolongs your departure.- Coco Chanel

I find it incredibly fascinating that there's an element of surprise in these timeless bags, just when you think it can't get any better, Karl Lagerfeld introduces the 2.55 reissue and classic flap. Isn't it amazing that the 2.55 has somewhat stand the test of time and proven that it is here to stay indefinitely. Design is about taking a risk, taking a chance to do something daring, beat the odds and stand the test of time. To be eternal and everlasting.

Good luck
i hope you enjoyed this little did you know:)

Hello hello

Unlike the other post, this issue of [Did you know] is going to be a little longer! Call this a double issue if you like.
I'll be splitting this issue into two post [1] Chanel 2.55 orginal design, [2] Chanel 2.55 reissue and classic flap
Ah yes, the famous 2.55, a repsentation of luxury, a force that is still very much unshakable in today's industry.
Do you know why the classic bag is called 2.55? It was named respectively after the month and year it was, lets' say "born." February 1955
Yep, you've guess it, thought it was extremely fitting to write about it since it's February, marking the 56th anniversay of the 2.55.
BUT with that said, that's not the [Did you know] of the day:)

Mademoiselle lock

Here comes the super LONG [DID YOU KNOW]
Did you know that the famous diamond quilted design was inspired by Coco Chanel’s love for horse racing, hence drawing inspiration from the men’s horse racing jacket? The lock on this particular 2.55 is known famously as the Mademoiselle lock in reference to the fact that she was never married.  The chains were introduced after much observation that women carrying a bag needed to move their hands freely. Interestingly enough, the double chain happened to actually be inspired by Chanel’s experience in the orphanage, where caretakers would hang their keys by their waist. Now flip open that bag, see that little pocket on the front flap? That pocket was actually created by Coco Chanel for secret love letters. The bag also has a back compartment that was designed to store extra money. The original design of the 2.55 featured a reddish brown interior that reminded Coco Chanel of the orphanage’s uniform color. After several modifications such as addition of the chains, the bag was finally introduced, thus marking a significant point in fashion history, February 1955, the 2.55 was an accessory that was soon going to revolutionize Women’s fashion forever.

A style does not go out of style as long as it adapts itself to its period. When there is an incompatibility between the style and a certain state of mind, it is never the style that triumphs.- Coco Chanel

For as long as I can remember, I've wanted a 2.55. I love that so much thought and love has gone into creating this bag, a represenation, a revolution that sweeps women all over the world off their feet. I believe that the greatest creations comes from the purest of intentions. It's not all about making money, it's about creating something that you love and in due time, sharing your masterpiece with the rest of the world. To give someone a little part of you, such a lasting impression that your spirit is immortal through your art.

Good Luck
Check back for the next Did you know soon! I'll be continuing on Chanel
