Inspire me to life: Christopher Kane Resort 2011 Collection

Hello hello
Two days ago, I was actually shopping around with my Mom for New Years clothes when I came across a Christopher Kane's dress. I immediately snapped a shot and to be honest, it took my breath away.
I knew almost immediately it was Christopher Kane because I had seen another piece from the collection. The collection I'm about to show you is from Christopher Kane Resort 2011.
Following the previous season collection featuring bomb motifs, this season is no exception, featuring variating prints of a flaring nebula. A nebula is "an interstellar cloud of dust, hydrogen gas and plasma" which is the first stage of a star cycle. This is just an example of a nebula, I picked this one because it's called the nebula horse and I was born in the year of the horse. [heh. New year spirit right?]

Here is the photo I snapped, forgive the poor quality from my blackberry camera!

Yep, my camera doesn't do it justice at all!

Christopher Kane explained that the inspiration behind the flaring nebula was that he liked "the idea of explosive outwards expansion," which was a fun little metaphor for his blooming business.
With that said, Kane is an absolute master of playing with light and darkness in his collections. Of course, these beautiful flaring nebulas make breathtaking prints.
When you think about prints, you often think about a print on a solid opaque canvas but Christopher Kane pushes it that extra step by showing the print off in chiffon. A biker jacket in chiffon with a frill skirt, what a fascinating fashion oxymoron huh? Strong biker jacket versus. soft chiffon material versus a translucent flaring nebula print to create the ultimate masterpiece.

CLOSE UP & PERSONAL WITH DETAILS

This is definitely one of my favorite pieces from the collection, unfortunately, I didn't get to see it in real-life:(
Check out more pieces from the season's collection.

I really like the constrast between this warmer color palette compared to the previous garment's softer warm palette. Loving the bold palette of red, and yellow

One of the many reasons why I absolutely adore this collection is the variation in prints, showcasing a life-like image of the star cycle's many stages.

<3<3<3<3<3  loveeeeee the jumpsuit.

This is probably my favorite piece out of the entire collection.

Just imagine someone walking in it. It's like a moving artpiece, there's a surprise at every angle of these garments. I can only imagine that the runway was like a walk through the galaxy, showcasing a single remarkable miracle in life through fashion.
It has totally tickled my interest in astronomy again, how about you?:)

Before I end this, I would like to say Happy Chinese New Year to anyone that celebrates it! May you have a fantabulous year ahead!

Hope you enjoyed this as much as me!
toodles till later
x
Tammy
