Hello hello
ViVi series: Febuary 2011
I've been reading lots of ViVi lately, if you don't already know. ViVi is a popular fashion, style and beauty magazine from Japan.
Other than the Japanese issue, they also offer the magazine in Chinese, so yep! I got that one.
While I was rushing out of the bookshop today, I accidentally grabbed a previous issue that I've briefly scanned from Kiyoko's Japanese version. argh!
Since I already purchased it, I'm going to make the best use of it. See, when you purchase a magazine, the first thing you do is quickly scan it, then go through page by page but you know what. I promise you, everytime you reread a magazine, you'll always find something that you missed the first time!
I don't want to make empty promises but I really like ViVi and I wanted to make it a monthly overview but because I study abroad, it could be hard getting copies. we'll see how it goes!
I found a few series that I would like to show you guys, so theres definitely more post to come from ViVi.
One of the series that caught my attention from this issue of ViVi is the Color Magic collection.
So I understand that wearing color can be rather intimidating and confusing at times. I want to show you how you can use colors and get two very different looks.

LOUD
NAVY BLUE + BRIGHT YELLOW
I'm absolutely loving the navy blue and bright yellow combination. How cute are those yellow shorts! I could never pull them off but they look amazing. I could see millons of combinations with it.
Hearing the words, blue and yellow in your head actually paints a really unflattering palette but you'll be surprised that the intensity of the navy blue and bright yellow actually complement and work off each other.

SOFT
PURPLE+ GREEN
Even though this is slightly more on the pastel side, it is actually subtly bold with a combination of purple and green. Yes, yes, Barney, green and purple, but hey, it can look fashionable as well. See what a big difference it makes by just lightening the palette by a few shades. From an intense purple and green to an almost periwinkle blue/purple shade and sea foam green. How fun!
Color can be manipulated to your benefits. It isn't only for someone that likes a bright intense palette, it is also for someone that wants to go for a softer look but still play with color in a bold way. I'm definitely introducing more color to my wardrobe after this! So the next time you have a little time to spare before rushing out for a meeting, don't grab the black dress! Take a chance and play with some colors! You might be plesantly surprised by the results.
Tell me which look would you go for?
Good Luck
toodles till later!
